Given the extreme magnitude of the climate change problem, there is an urgent global need to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and rapidly increase carbon awareness among the population.

PlanetUp merges carbon offsets with online advertising to offer fresh sustainable solutions that benefit brands, consumers, and most importantly... the planet.

We offer two main sustainable solutions:

-PlanetUpAds- The first sustainable ad network. PlanetUp developed an ISO certified sustainable advertising technology to offset carbon emissions and support non-profits with every click on the PlanetUp Ads.

-Carbon Neutral Accounts- A PlanetUp service that neutralizes the carbon footprint of organizations, events and establishments. We provide diverse online and printed tools to easily communicate your environmental commitment to the public in order to increase their carbon awareness.

The carbon footprint of PlanetUp for 2009 derives from its electricity consumption and the carbon impact resulting from air travel of key personnel. We also considered the everyday commute of our employees and the commute of visiting parties to our workspace, both included in the scope of a Diamond Carbon Account.

PlanetUp does not produce any direct emissions, so the scope considers indirect emissions exclusively. This is the amount of carbon produced by PlanetUp’s operation:

• 1 ton of CO2 for electricity consumption.
• .8 ton of CO2 for electricity consumption of servers.
• 45 tons of CO2 for business-related air travel.
• 3 tons of CO2 for daily employee commute.

The carbon impact of PlanetUp during 2009 was neutralized using carbon offsets from the carbon reduction projects listed below.

From beautiful Redwood forests -that in addition to helping cool the climate protect wildlife habitat, safeguard clean water supplies and restore biodiversity- to interesting methane destruction technology used in farms and landfills to mitigate emissions, PlanetUp offers only certified carbon offsets that bring additional benefits to the environment and nearby communities, and increase climate change awareness among the population.

PlanetUp enjoys a very green oriented corporate culture. We have permanent recycling, electricity and water conservation programs that motivate us to reduce our carbon impact on-site. Carbon offsets only make sense when accompanied by the appropriate on-site programs and efforts to directly reduce the company’s climate impact.

Additionally, all our mail and shippings are carbon neutral. We have no company fleet which helps us minimize our impact. All visits to clients and other business-related activities are taken care of using public transportation.
